My Passion
My passion is to produce images of aspects (be it people or places) in transition. Images with which everyday people can make a connection.
The drive and desire is to make images with which people can empathise. More specifically the particular area of transition is the site of what will become the 2012 Olympics.
My Relationship With The Olympics Site
I have an intimate connection with the Olympic site. As a student I lived in student accommodation on Temple Mills Lane and later on in Clays Lane Housing Association shared accomodation. Both have been demolished to make way for the Olympic Village.
Before I first visited the site, which in 2012 will become the main venue of the Olympics, the initial idea was to document each aspect of the site, buildings, people and so forth. I was minded to compare this to what the site will eventually become.
Behind The Images
I was drawn to prosaic locations or rather details; parts of buildings, locks, letters, abandoned furniture, tyres which in certain instances are being reclaimed by nature.
My desire is to cause people who look at the images to think; to think of what lies behind the walls, why are the tyres piled in such a way, why paint railings pink, who are these people? What do they do?
